eHealth ERA Project contributes to eHealth-EU2010 Strategy development

The eHealth ERA project was invited by the European Union/Member States "Working Group Information and eHealth (including Data Protection)" of the High Level Group on Health Services and Medical Care to provide support for developing an eHealth-EU2010 Strategy, a key goal to be achieved by the end of 2005.
After preparing a draft review paper on issues and topics for such a strategy, including an executive summary to serve as an initial draft for further development of the strategy, a workshop was organised on September 16 in The Hague at the invitation of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, The Netherlands. Initially, key strategy issues as identified in the ERA Project paper were presented and discussed, followed by intensive further deliberations in three small working groups. All results obtained were later reviewed and prioritised, delivering input to a drafting committee which produced a draft strategy paper for further development and wording by the WG secretariat ad DG SANCO.
Invited to this workshop were also Member State representatives of the eHealth Working Group (subgroup to the eEurope Advisory Group) as well as from the EHTEL health care ministerial group.
